even in your post you eventually move to PS, I'm guessing for color. So no one can really leave PS for Mstudio yet. Yes Mstudio is weird in saving and converting.

I havent gotten the amount of lag you have unless I have livestream, other graphic programs and anti virus scan running at the same time (for the love of sanity dont open painter with any other applications).

Mstudio does have cool perspective rulers but I think if more comic and concept artists let the people of PS know they would add it cause they keep adding all those stu- I mean bonus photo editing options. Heck, the brush control is getting better and better and I've seen some really amazing illustrations that can rival Painter any day.

I also like all the word ballons library for Mstudio and I see how 3d import can be helpful.

Great pair of posts! About the black/white/transparent "ink" -- I have my intous 3 tablet's right side touch strip set to Black {top} Transparent {bottom} and the bottommost button set to White.

Watch out when exporting the pages as PSDs (or TIFFs) -- leave the DPI and the size the same, and change 'em in Photoshop. I've found that if I exported the pages at 33% reduction, then the DPI, instead of 300dpi would be 200dpi (or some such amount) in Photoshop. That entailed going though all the pages and setting things back the way they need to be (such as being 300 DPI with specific dimensions ). Now I have an Action in PS that does all that for me so my exporting from MS ex is very basic.

On a mac, try playing around with printing the MS file to a PDF. gives pretty interesting results.

The reason blue drops out in traditional repro isn't because of the bright light, but because the film used is simply blind to that particular color. It can't tell the difference between a white reflection and a light-blue reflection. The blue channel in an RGB Photoshop file has the same form of color-based blindness, so if you're trying to separate out blueline in PS, grabbing the blue channel is a quick and easy way to do it.

Nice write-up PJ!

I tried the 30 day trial out, and found it pretty fun for doodling in, as compared to photoshop.

I'd like to pick up a copy when I have some more money.
