Radio shows with DJs you avoid on the radio! Now you can download and listen to them on your iPod. Except you can’t. According to the faq they haven’t finalised all the paperwork and, therefore, haven’t got the rights to play audio, so, in the meantime, you can stream the stuff. Which ..er… is kinda the opposite of what a podcast is anyway. Also, you’re out of luck on your iPod as they only supply MP3 files with DRM (I actually suspect they’re aren’t MP3 files at all) and if you have a mac they’ve ‘looked into it’ and point to a link to windows media player for WINDOWS (rather than the mac version). Hmm… I smell people leaping onto bandwagons.
Got a decent amount of artwork done over the weekend. Got one panel of page 6 to finish and then start on pages 7 and 8 – it’s 3 parts of eight pages each (24 pages) – which makes it nearly as long as the Rogue Trooper strip (30pages). Happy with how some of it’s turning out. Got to scan these finished three pages and add the greyscale to it.
Tomorrow is the first day of the new semester of college, still waiting on the results of the last couple of assignments – fingers crossed I’ve passed them – not overly bothered about whether I get a Distinction or Merit (although cus of the odd marking method used one project only needs to pass for me to get a distinction in that module). Still quietly proud of myself for sticking with it – although as Annette pointed out there’s still the guts of two years to go.
Next podcast: will try and get something done this week — try and get it recorded on a proper mic so there’s less hiss in the background (which is just the sound of the laptops hard drive – cus I’ve been using the mic on the laptop).
Started saving! woo! go me! 35 years old, 20 years being paid a wage and I’ve finally gotten a saving account together. (That’s not entirely true, I used to have a saving account but it was closed cus it was hardly ever used). I’m working towards buying an iMac G5 – I do/did want the macmini but the G5 is a much better option for me, pity it’s about a grand.
And that’s yer update.
Nearly finished page 5, working on pencils on page 6 – page 6 should come together faster – may even get it finished tonight? nah, too optimistic. Page 6 looks to be the ‘hero’ page — cool shot of main character running along firing off his gun, great thing about the panel is that all there is is him, but for this strip I’ve decided to letter the sound f/x myself and it’s the BLAM BLAM BLAM f/x that make the panel really work. S’pretty cool.
Did another podcast tonight but I think I’ll scrap it and do another, I was too self-concious when doing it so I’ll try and get one recorded in the next few days.
Alrighty then, where are we at:
Megazine strip, still stuck on page 4 — got over the big hurdle and work will continue – no doubt I’ll finish it tomorrow.
Podcasts – I actually enjoyed doing the first one and I’ve had some responses (two… alright that’s not much, but still) but I like the idea of doing them, and knowing how easy it is (literally turn on the mic, press record, import to itunes and upload – and it’s done in 45 minutes ). When I was a kid I was obsessed with starting clubs – I think cus I felt like such an outcast I wanted somewhere I could make myself where I’d fit right in (invariably the clubs involved me plus some friends or cousins and would be dead within two weeks to be replaced by another club). I went all out for these things, making badges, magazines and stuff. I like making things. But I’m lazy. So I like making things that are easy and podcasts are easy. Podcast 2 will get more airplay — I reckon, at any rate, cus it’ll actually be a proper podcast with an RSS feed an everything (and I’ll try and get it joined up to the list at ipodder.
Nerdy computer geek stuff, after the (more..)
Ok, I’ve started. ‘notes from the drawing board’ is my little podcast. It’s a fairly unfocused, unstructured and rambly, but it was recorded literally on my drawing board. This might be the only one I’ll do (or not) and, as it doesn’t include an RSS feed, it’s not technically a podcast but here it is anyways:
Notes from the Drawing Board 10th Jan 2005 (9.4Mb 27min 24secs)
If you listen and hate it or enjoy it then let me know. Pass it along to anyone you think might be interested. If I get positive feedback there’s a good chance I’ll do more.
