The Megazine issue 281 is out this week, and with it, my first 2000AD/Megazine cover. It’s a ‘stock’ cover – that is, something drawn that can be used on the comic regardless of the content – 2000AD usually keeps a few in reserve in case the deadlines get fubbed up, or other matters make it difficult to co-ordinate a cover with a comic strip (say you have a great scene inside that issue but your cover artist is late – no point running the cover the issue AFTER that scene? and, vice versa – interior artist is late, that cover can’t be used so you need something you can yank out of the stock cover draw – that’s not to say either situation occured here, just letting you know the historical reasoning behind stock covers…)
Anyhue, here’s the sketches and wotnot I sent for approval to the Mighty One… (and a small version of the actual finished article – surprisingly, the thumbnail and the finished image are pretty damn similar looking…)
