Hey, so late start. I’m finding one of my main problems with working is what I think is “context switching” just going from one thing to another – one kind of process to another. So that’s the start of pretty much any new job.
This week I decided I’d start on the second part of the 2000ad thing, there’s gonna be a lot of disruption this week though as there’s a bunch of important family stuff. My dad turns 80 this week – sort of astonishing. Dad’s still pretty youthful, I have a bunch of friends with elderly parents who haven’t fared as well, and as much as my dad drives me mad and sometimes acts potty, I know that’s just business as usual and what he’s been doing to me since I was old enough to have object permanence.
Also, youngest son finishes secondary school, that’s it. He’s done. He’s doing A Levels in English Lit, Media Studies and Computer Science and hoping to go to uni to do English and Media Studies. I’ve read part of his English lit essay (A comparison between Flowers for Algernon and Never Let Me Go) and boy oh boy, it’s not something I could’ve managed (he’ll get good grades)
Then this weekend we’re off to Derry for the Derry Jazz Festival for three days. So this is all gonna stop much work being done. Still, I’ll try.
Last week, to recap:
So, this week, this week (from today, Tuesday) I’ll be drawing Terran Omega, as a reward for getting some invoices out!
I’m not gonna bother to plan it, the hope is I get between 2-4 pages per day, starting with a double page spread which I’ve got to ink up today too.
How things shook out: ultimately I finished all of the pencils for Terran Omega – a total of 14 pages of pencils, and inked and (eventually) coloured the double page spread. It looks pretty good, I think …

There’s a little snippet – remember the black and white (and green!) pages are free to read over on my patreon, but all it takes is a dollar or more to support me and you can see the full colour version. Over here.
This week, I’m working on the part 2 of the 2000ad thing. Let’s called it Project Doppler. (god I hate “Project” code names, but this will do)
Monday – Layouts (six pages), pencils (1) TO Inks(p12)
Tuesday – Inks (p12) Pencils (2-3-4)
Wednesday – Pencils (5-6) (Dinner with Dad and family so this might be a real struggle even for two pages)
Thursday – 2000ad inks (1-2)
Friday – 2000ad inks (3-4)
Weekend – write off. No work getting done this weekend. Will be hanging out with my wife in Derry.
